Washington Youth Tour Finalists

Each year, Pinewood Christian Academy’s juniors are given the opportunity to apply for the Washington Youth Tour summer leadership program sponsored by Canoochee EMC. Public and private schools over six counties submit essay applications for the interview that determines who receives the honor of being chosen to attend the Tour.  Applicants were given the option of choosing one of three topics including: writing about what they thought life without electricity would be like, writing to convince people who would have lived in 1937 to sign up for electricity, or writing to discuss the benefits of power plants.

Canoochee EMC representatives selected ten students from the essays submitted to advance to the interview round of competition.  The Pinewood finalists chosen were Britton Waters, Taylor Watson, Abigail Tucker, Irene Lee, Garlon Rogers, William Collins, Chap Shuman, and Jesse Rogers from Pinewood.  Students selected upon completion of the interview portion of their applications will be taken on a trip to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., in June.
