On Friday, May 3rd, Pinewood Christian Academy held their time honored tradition of Old Fashioned Day at the Daniel Farmhouse which was built in 1895. It is a day where the PCA’s seniors and 3rd graders gather together to experience life during the late 1800s.  The 3rd graders dressed up in an old fashioned clothing to represent the time period, while the seniors dressed up in traditional farm attire. The event included a tour of the farmhouse and what life would be like in the 19th century. The seniors led the students in the day’s activities which included learning about music and farm equipment from that era, making butter, riding on a hayride, eating homemade ice cream, playing old fashioned games.  The day culminated into Virginia Reel square dancing with the seniors and 3rd graders dancing alongside each other as their parents and grandparent watched from the side.  Old Fashioned Day was a great success as the students learned what “simpler” times were like and enjoyed a day having fun with their parents, grandparents, and the seniors.
