Straight A students at PCA attend annual Okefenokee Swamp trip

By Gracie Hodges, PCA sophomore

On May 6th, 2019, students who maintained an A average all year in Mr. Sollosi’s 9th grade biology class took a trip to Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp. “While at the Okefenokee, we learned about wildlife native to our state.  Our hard work from this year really paid off!  This trip is a trip I will never forget!” shared Emma Watson.

Students attended a historical show featuring the history of the swamp and artifacts from the area during pioneer days. They also went to a nature show where they learned about various types of vegetation and the many wild animals that are found in the swamp.  Afterwards, the students enjoyed a train ride around the swamp as well as a boat ride to get a glimpse of the animals up close, including alligators, within their natural habitat.  “The trip to the Okefenokee swamp was a great experience! Those alligators were huge, and so were Mr. Sollosi’s steak burgers!” said Taylor Mixon,“If I had the chance to go back, I definitely would.”
