PCA Literary Team Wins GISA AAA State Championship

By Sydney Strickland, PCA junior

On March 13th, Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA)’s Literary Team traveled to Gordon State College in Barnesville for the GISA AAA State Literary Competition. These students represented the school well against several schools from across the state and took home the overall championship for the second year in a row.

Many of these students won individual awards and championships as well. Senior Anna Scott won a state title in Extemporaneous Speaking; the Girl’s Trio, senior Elizabeth McCooey, junior Sydney Strickland, and sophomore Gracie Hodges, also claimed a victory, making 2019 the third year in a row that the PCA trio has won state.

Several competitors were named runners-up. Senior Joshua Murray placed second in Boy’s Solo as did junior Aaron Lyons in Humorous Oral Interpretation. Lyons also placed third in Duo Oral Interpretation alongside Elizabeth McCooey. Students placing fourth were senior Timothy Stoner in Dramatic Oral Interpretation, senior Irene Lee in Rhetorical Essay, and McCooey in Girl’s Solo.

Congratulations to PCA Literary for another state championship!
