PCA Interact Club prepares Thanksgiving Meal for the Old Savannah City Mission

By: Brayden Gravley, PCA junior

Each year, the Old Savannah City Mission serves Thanksgiving dinner to those in need. The Pinewood Interact Club took a trip to help cook and set up for the dinner. The Interact Club is Rotary International’s service club for young people that encourages students to serve others in their community. The seniors worked in the kitchen cooking green beans, yams, dressing, and cranberry sauce while the juniors prepared silverware and napkins for the tables. The students also prayed for those who would receive the food they made. Along with the PCA Interact Club, the WSAV news team came to cover the event.

Though the mission is made up of only a few employees, hundreds of others volunteer to help struggling members of the community. The Old Savannah City Mission provides food, shelter, rehabilitation, and job training. Their core focus, however, is to share the love of God with those in need.

PCA’s Interact students were thankful for the opportunity to team up with a mission that specializes in giving hope to the hopeless and showing love to those who may feel unloved. “Going to serve these people was such a blessing because it made us realize how grateful we should be of the things we have.” –Taylor Hendrix, PCA senior.
