PCA Multimedia Class visits East Georgia State College

Pinewood Christian Academy’s multimedia class recently had the opportunity to learn how a college uses media and communications on a day to day basis. The group of around 30 students traveled to East Georgia State College in Swainsboro on Tuesday, October 29, to speak with members of the Office of Institutional Advancement and the college’s president.

Harley Strickland, a PCA alumnus, who is now the communications coordinator for the college, spoke to the students about the importance of media and communications in every job field students may be interested in. Katelyn Moore, the marketing coordinator, spoke to the students about marketing their brand and designing materials. Students were able to ask questions about each topic, especially about designing, since the yearbook is one of their media projects at PCA.

The Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Elizabeth Gilmer, and the Alumni and Development Coordinator, Karen Guthrie, also spoke to the students about their roles at the college and how media fits into their job. The president of EGSC, Dr. Bob Boehmer, wrapped up the lecture with sharing details about the importance of college, student loan debt, and scholarship assistance.

The students were then able to get a look around the EGSC campus before heading back to Bellville.
