Pinewood’s Haleigh McWilliams places 2nd in Beta Club National Competition

Bellville Ga – The last few months, one of the National Beta members from Pinewood has been working hard to prepare for her entry at the National Beta Convention. In June, she was able to celebrate that hard work when announced as a second place winner of the 9th grade Social Studies competition.

Haleigh originally competed and received awards during their State Convention held in January. Her victory at the state level provided an opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention, held in Louisville, KY, provided all students the opportunity to compete. Over 5,000 Elementary Beta (grades 4-5), 8,000 Junior Beta (grades 6-8) and 7,900 Senior Beta (grades 9-12) students were able to represent their schools both this summer

“Haleigh is an amazing student and our Beta club is so proud of her for placing at the national level. Her dedication to Beta is a great example for all Beta members to follow” said Mrs. Susan Nobles (PCA Beta sponsor).

Haleigh has been a member of BETA Club since the sixth grade.  She has earned several awards in the history competitions at Convention during her time in the Beta Club including:  State Champion as both a 6th and 7th grader, 5th place nationally as a 7th grader, and 3rd at State her 8th grade year.

“Beta has been a great experience for me to embrace my love of history and I love going to different places each year for Nationals,” said McWilliams.

PCA Beta has more than 80 members and participates in the State Convention every year. Since the first Beta club in 2016, Beta members have placed at the state level. Each year we continue to do community service and promote the theme “Leading by serving others.”
