Pinewood’s First 4 XC Meets

 Bulloch Academy

The Pinewood Cross Country team attended their first meet at Bulloch Academy on Monday, September 9th. Trinity Statesboro, Bulloch Academy, Saint Andrews, Vidalia Heritage, Statesboro STEAM, and Pinewood were all in attendance.

In the varsity run of 3.1 miles, all of the PCA girls placed in the top ten. Laci Stone placed 5th with a time of 29:31. Stone was followed by Riley Nevil 6th (29:31), Ella Johns 7th (29:38), and Matalie Miles 8th (30:22).

The varsity boys also ran a course of 3.1 miles. They were led by Truett Rountree who finished 9th with a time of 23:57. He was followed by Luke Scott 11th (24:16), Nathan Scott 11th (26:33), Camden Johns 23rd (27:21), and Forrest Johns 27th (28:25).

The middle school girls ran a 1.5 mile course and were led by Abi Scott in 9th place overall with a time of 20:21. She was followed by Emma Strickland 10th (21:52), Payton Cowart 11th (22:39), and Handley Kate Lewis 14th (23:35).

The middle school boys also ran a 1.5 mile course. The Pinewood middle school boys were led by Cash Bland in 12th place with a time of 21:54. He was followed by Sutton Dekle 16th (23:28), Taylor Solaro 18th (25:14), Trent Jenkins 21st (29:04), Logan Dukes 23rd (30:15), and Liam Porter 24th (30:41).

Claxton Meet

On September 12, three cross country teams competed at Claxton. Statesboro STEAM, Claxton, and Pinewood all attended.

The varsity girls ran a course of 3.1 miles. Leading the varsity girls was Miles in 3rd place with a time of 32:22. She was followed by Madi Shaffer in 5th place with a time of 32:56.

The varsity boys all placed in the top ten. The PCA varsity boys were led by Rountree in 2nd place with a time of 22:19. He was followed by L. Scott 4th (23:22), N. Scott 5th (24:24), C. Johns 8th (25:53), and F. Johns 10th (26:25).

The middle school girls were led by Stone in 2nd place with a time of 12:00. She was followed by Strickland 3rd (12:37), Nevil 5th (13:08), Johns 7th (13:41), Cowart 10th (14:30), A. Scott 11th (14:36), and Lewis 13th (15:32).

In addition to the middle school girls, the PCA middle school boys also ran a 1.5 mile course. The middle school boys were led by Bland with a time of 11:45, finishing in 2nd place. Bland was followed by Solaro 9th (15:03), Dekle 10th (15:04), Jenkins 13th (18:41), Dukes 14th (18:54), and Porter 15th (19:47).

Savannah Christian Meet

On September 17th, twenty cross country teams participated in a cross country meet at Savannah Christian.

The PCA varsity girls ran a course of 3.1 miles. Shaffer ran a time of 28:26 and was followed by Miles with a time of 30:28.

The varsity boys also ran a course of 3.1 miles. The varsity boys’ team was led by N. Scott with a time of 22:07. N. Scott was followed by Rountree (23:19), L. Scott (23:26), C. Johns (27:04), and F. Johns (28:19).

Nevil led the middle school girls with a time of 16:58.  She was followed by Stone (17:03), Strickland (18:02), E. Johns (18:04), Cowart (19:53), A. Scott (19:42), and Lewis (24:35).

The middle school boys also participated in this meet. The boys were led by Bland with a time of 19:20, who was followed by Dekle (21:18), Dukes (21:45), Solaro (21:53), and Jenkins (28:03).

2nd Bulloch Meet

On September 23rd the Pinewood cross country team participated in a meet at Bulloch Academy. There were 5 teams in attendance including Pinewood.

The varsity girls ran a course of 3.1 miles. Stone led the varsity girls with a time of (27:40) and finished in 2nd place. She was followed by Nevil 4th (28:29), Johns 5th (28:42), Miles 8th (30:26), and Shaffer 9th (31:11).

The varsity boys were led by Rountree in 4th place with a time of 23:07. He was followed by L. Scott 5th (23:15), N. Scott 8th (25:25), C. Johns 11th (26:12), and F. Johns 15th (26:43).

The middle school girls ran a course of 1.5 miles and all of the girls finished in the top ten. Strickland finished 2nd with a time of 18:36. She was followed by A. Scott 5th (20:21), Cowart 6th (20:47), and Lewis 10th (25:23).

The middle school boys also ran a course of 1.5 miles. Bland led the boys with a time of 20:52 and finished in 8th place. Bland was followed by Dekle 9th (22:47), Solaro 10th (25:44), Dukes 11th (25:45), Jenkins 12th (26:48), and Porter 13th (31:26).

The Pinewood cross country team will compete at region at Bulloch Academy on Monday, October 21st.
