Pinewood’s Cheerleaders Capture 2016 GISA State Championships
PCA’s Varsity cheerleading team traveled to Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia, to compete in the 2016 GISA State Cheerleading Competition held on Saturday, November 19. They competed against Brentwood Academy, Trinity Christian School, Bethlehem Christian Academy, Frederica Academy, Bulloch Academy, Briarwood Academy, Gatewood Academy, and John Milledge Academy.
The varsity team dominated the mat earning them the title of 2016 GISA State Champions and will receive championship rings for their win. The varsity team had an undefeated season and are looking forward to what the next season will bring.
The competition team includes six seniors, who between them, hold two national titles. The senior squad members include Grainger Ballard, Emma Dasher, Connor Davis, Kaitlin Durrence, RayeAnna Strickland, and Emily Threlkeld.
A few seniors shared their thoughts about their exciting season. Connor Davis commented, “It feels good to see all of our hard work finally paid off!”
RayeAnna Strickland shared, “We’re so happy to finally hold the deserved title of State Champs!”
Grainger Ballard reflected, “After five months of hard work and dedication, the Pinewood Patriots brought home yet another championship – this one being the most important competition.”
This competition was very important to the seniors, not just because it was the state competition, but because this was their last competition on the Pinewood cheer team before they graduate. Each of the seniors will be greatly missed and always remembered for all of their hard work and dedication to the PCA Cheer team!
