Pinewood Tops Off Their Senior Night with a Win Ending a 10-0 Season

Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) hosted their Annual Senior Night under the Friday night lights on October 30, 2015. The PCA boys played against their rival, Bulloch Academy, and were named region champs. Pinewood began the game by handing Preston Campbell the ball leading to multiple good carries, and finally a PCA touchdown (TD) by Preston. The kick was good; the score became 7-0. The Bulloch Gators did not give the Patriots an easy battle, for they made the second TD of the game which tied the game (7-7). Blake Shuman caught a pass thrown by Jeffrey Young. Pinewood obtained their second TD by handing off the ball to Preston Campbell who ran it into the end zone. The kick was accurately kicked through the uprights which put 14-7 on the scoreboard with Pinewood in the lead. Noah Callaway, Matthew Floyd, and Quincy Tanner made multiple tackles throughout the game. PCA punted the ball but fumbled, and Pinewood’s John Michael Thompson recovered the ball. There was a flag thrown on the next play against the Gators for a pass interference, moving the Patriots up 15 yards for an automatic first down. Jeffrey Young passed the ball to John Michael Thompson for a 13 yard gain. Kaleb Shuman increased the score since he made a Pinewood Patriot TD. Once again the kick was good, so the score became 21-7. Wes Purcell caught the ball after Bulloch interfered with the pass and ran for a first down. PCA went into halftime in the lead, 21 to 7. Pinewood’s defensive line was fired up throughout the whole game, for they all had multiple spectacular tackles. The Bulloch Gators marched down the field to start off the third quarter and scored another TD which made the score 21 to 14. Pinewood received the ball and marched back down the field. Preston Campbell scored another TD, so the score became 28 to 14. The Pinewood Patriots stopped the Gators and scored another TD, putting the score at 35 to 14. The Bulloch Gators scored their third TD to make the score 21 to 35. Pinewood’s Cameron Dutton scored their sixth TD, so the score became 41 to 21. Caleb Conley kicked the ball perfectly every time except for Pinewood’s last TD.

This Friday night, November 6, Pinewood Patriots enter the play-offs against Augusta Prep with a 10-0 record. This is the third time in Patriot history that the football team has accomplished a perfect season (1980 and 1999 were the previous teams).
