Pinewood hosts Junior Ring Ceremony

By: Shelby Dollar, PCA Junior

On Wednesday, December 11th, Pinewood hosted the annual junior ring ceremony honoring the class of 2021. The members of the junior class were excited to receive their rings after a long wait. Preceding the ring ceremony, the juniors and their parents were treated to a lunch catered by Rusty Pig at the Parker Center in Claxton. Ella Anderson, the Junior class president, welcomed all of the parents and guests to the ring ceremony. Class officers Ally McCall and Mallory Sessions led the pledges to the American and Christian flags. Cadence Lynn, the Junior class Chaplain, prayed over the ceremony. Lydia Kicklighter introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Jamie Oates, who spoke about the symbolism behind the class ring and how it would be a symbol of their time at Pinewood. Assistant Headmaster Mrs. Lacy Shuman called each junior to the front of the gymnasium to receive their ring, and each ring was presented to them by a senior of their choice. After the presentation of the rings, Korbett MacGregor led the audience and junior class in the singing of the PCA alma mater. At the end of the ceremony, friends and family gathered with the juniors to take pictures and admire their new rings. The class of 2021 would like to thank everyone who had a part in making this day so special for them.
