Pinewood hosted its 1st annual Christmas tree lighting
By: Cadence Lynn, PCA junior
On December 2nd, PCA hosted the first annual Christmas tree lighting. The new tradition was began to create an opportunity for PCA students and Patrons to come together for a celebration of the Christmas season. Afterwards, everyone gathered around the infamous oak tree in front of the school during the evening hours. Each grade level decorated wood slices to represent them and hang as Christmas ornaments on the big oak tree out front. The hand-made ornaments framed the manger scene and Christmas tree below.
The evening began with everyone joining in for the singing of a few favorite Christmas carols led my PCA’s chorus. The Gospel was shared through Mr. Tab Smith’s reading of the Christmas story from the book of Luke accounting the events that led up to our Savior’s birth. Headmaster Clay Hill read the timeless poem “The Night Before Christmas,” by Clement C. Moore. Santa Clause then joined the celebration as he rode in on a firetruck complete with sirens. Many excited children told Santa their Christmas wishes and had their pictures taken with him. Students enjoyed their visit from Santa while they sipped on seasonal hot chocolate. The night, which culminated in the lighting of the beautiful decorations, was full of fellowship with friends and family.
