Pinewood gathers for schoolwide See You at the Pole event

By:  Riley Nevil, PCA senior

On Wednesday the 27th of September, Pinewood students of all ages assembled in the high school gym for the national See You at the Pole (SYATP) event.  This annual tradition began in Burleson, Texas by a group of teenagers who were obedient to God and gathered at three different schools around the flagpole to pray for their friends, schools, and leaders. Their obedience sparked a trend around the nation that has continued every year and is on the fourth Wednesday in September.

The Interact Club, led by Mrs. Jennifer Bradley, organizes this event for Pinewood every year.  Senior Kaedan Arnold welcomed the students, faculty and parents to the event.  Interact students Abi Pazderski, Sydney Tippins, Morgan Blalock, Libby Kate Blocker, and Mia Hamner led the crowd in worship.  Senior Riley Nevil led a crowd prayer response with the help of seniors Cassidi Lynn and Harleigh Driggers. An interactive devotion was then led by seniors Jake Rogers, Allie Shea, Kaedan Arnold, Morgan Blalock, and Laci Stone. The main message was Jeremiah 29:11, “If you look for Me wholeheartedly you will find Me”.  Afterwards, the students were divided into groups by last name and members of the Interact Club led them in prayer.  Headmaster Kevin Cloud closed the event and led the crowd in a final prayer before the students were dismissed back to their classrooms to continue the school day.

“SYATP felt really special with the students leading it.  When we gathered to pray in groups at the end, I felt more connected to the other students in our school as they led us in prayer,” commented Lara Durrence, PCA junior.
