During the week of June 15-22, Jena Hales attended the Washington Youth Tour in Washington D.C. The purpose of the trip was to help empower the future leaders of America. She had the opportunity to tour various presidential and war memorials, Ford’s Theater, the National Mall, the Smithsonian Museums, and the White House. Among the places she visited, her favorite was the US Capitol Building. There, she was able to meet with Georgia’s senators, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who talked about their jobs in D.C. and answered questions she and the other delegates had about current affairs. Hales said, “While on the trip I learned that Washington D.C. is more than a historical city. It also has so much to learn from and look back on to guide our future. These are the stories of the past that are shared in order to make a brighter future.”
