PCA Tough Loss against Brookwood

The Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Patriots hosted the Brookwood School Warriors on September 1. PCA lost with a score of 21-35.

Caleb Conley kick the ball to the 25 yard line, and the Brookwood receiver ran for 14 yards. A pass was completed to the Warrior receiver for 25 yards, and Lake Dasher made the tackle. Joseph MacGregor and Ford Thompson had strong tackles on the next two plays prohibiting Brookwood from gaining yards. Another complete pass was thrown, and Thompson stopped the runner with a strong tackle. A flag was thrown for holding against the Patriots for a loss of 10 yards. Brookwood threw an incomplete pass, but a flag was thrown against PCA for a pass interference for 9 yards. The Warriors run for 13 yards into the end zone. The kick after was good, and the score was 0-7.

Thompson received the kickoff at the 15 yard line and ran for 5 yards. Jeffrey Young completed a pass to Dasher for gain of 13 yards and a first down. Dasher received another pass from Young for another first down and gain of 13 yards. Garlon Rogers ran the ball for the next three plays gaining a total of 18 yards. An incomplete pass was thrown intended for Thompson. Turnover on downs.

Young tackled the Warrior runner after a gain of 2 yards. Sky Rogers with an assist from James Rogers stopped the Warriors from gaining any yards. A penalty for defensive offsides gave the Warriors 5 yards. An incomplete pass was thrown, and a 15 yard penalty was called against PCA for a personal foul. A 9 yard complete pass was made by Brookwood, and Young tackled the receiver. A 5 yard penalty against the Warriors for an illegal shift was called. J. Rogers tackled the receiver after Brookwood gained 3 yards. The Warriors were forced to punt.

Young ran the ball for a gain of 15 yards. Young earned a Patriot first down after a 10 yard run. G. Rogers ran the ball on the next two plays for a total gain of 8 yards. PCA was forced to punt, and Conley kicked the ball to the Warrior’s 27 yard line.

Three incomplete passes were thrown by the Warriors on the next series, and Brookwood was forced to punt.

Dasher received the ball for a fair catch at the Patriot 43 yard line. Young ran the ball for a gain of 31 yards. Dasher received the ball from Young for a gain of 7 yards. Turnover on downs after two incomplete passes which ended the first quarter.

Second Quarter

An penalty against the Warriors was called for an illegal procedure. Conley tackled the receiver after an 8 yard pass was completed. Young tackled the runner for a loss of 4 yards for the Warriors. A pass was completed to the Warrior receiver for an 81-yard touchdown (TD). The point after kick was good, and the score became 0-14.

Collin Woolard returned the ball after the kickoff for a gain of 19 yards. G. Rogers carried the ball for a gain of 9 yards. G. Rogers earned a Patriot first down after running for 2 yards. PCA was forced to punt after two incomplete passes were thrown. Conley punted to the Warrior 2 yard line.

Rogers and Young had great tackles against the Warriors. Brookwood ran the ball but could not earn a first down, so the Warriors were forced to punt.

Young completed a pass the Logan Lewis for a gain of 10 yards. C. Woolard ran the ball for 5 yards. PCA could not gain enough yards to earn the first down.

On the next series, Lewis tackled the runner for a loss of 1 yard. Thompson and Todd Burkhalter each had strong tackles for PCA. A 15 yard penalty against Brookwood for a dead ball personal foul was called. A complete pass for 17 yards for a Brookwood TD was made. The kick after was good, and the score became 0-21.

Thompson received the ball from the kickoff and ran for 9 yards. C. Woolard carried the ball for 33 yards earning a first down. C. Woolard ran again for a gain of 5 yards. Young completed a pass to Lewis for a loss of 1 yard. Conley punted the ball to the Warrior’s 20 yard line.

The Warriors completed a pass for a gain of 25 yards, but a penalty on the play for a personal foul against Brookwood called them back 15 yards. The Patriots had a 15 yard penalty for face masking. Dasher intercepted the ball for PCA right as the quarter ended.

Third Quarter

Thompson received the ball for the Patriots at the 17 yard line. G. Rogers ran the ball for three plays in a row gaining a total of 20 yards and a Patriot first down. PCA was forced to punt. Conley punted to the Warrior’s 37 yard line.

Brookwood completed a 33 yard pass. Young tackled the runner after a 2 yard gain. Brookwood had two flags called on them for false starting on the next two plays, which backed them up for a total of 10 yards. C. Woolard with the assist from S. Rogers tackled to runner. Thompson tackled the Warrior for a gain of no yards.

Woolard ran the ball for PCA gaining 4 yards. The Patriots were forced to punt, and Conley kicked the ball to the Patriot 49 yard line.

Lewis tackled the runner with a hard hit. C. Woolard with help from G. Rogers tackled the receiver after a pass, but Brookwood gained no yards. There was a flag on the play against the Warriors for holding, which backed them up 10 yards. Dasher broke up the pass for a third down. Turnover on downs.

A penalty against the Warriors for unsportsmanlike conduct pushed PCA 15 yards closer to the end zone. Young threw two incomplete passes. Dasher fumbled the ball on the carry, and Brookwood recovered it.

Thompson had a strong tackle against the Warriors. Brookwood was forced to punt.

Dasher received the ball on the Patriot 16 yard line. G. Rogers ran the ball for 6 yards. Young completed a pass to Lewis for a gain of a first down and 24 yards. C. Woolard ran for a 56 yard TD. The kick by Conley after was not good, and PCA finally got on the board with 6-21.

Conley returned the ball to the 20 yard line. Lewis had a fierce tackle against the runner. Brookwood ran for a 16 yard TD, and the points after were good. The score became 6-28.

Woolard received the ball from the kick return and ran for 13 yards. G. Rogers carried the ball for 16 yards. C. Woolard ran for a 55 yard TD. The two point conversion by C. Woolard was successful, and the scoreboard read 14-28.

MacGregor assisted by Burkhalter had a powerful tackle. S. Rogers tackled the runner with a hard hit. The clock ticked down, and third quarter came to an end.

Fourth Quarter

Connor Kennedy had a forceful tackle against the Brookwood runner. The Warriors were forced to punt.

Woolard received the ball from the kick off at the Patriot 18 yard line. Defensive delay of game for a gain of 5 yards for PCA. G. Rogers ran for a total of 11 yards within the next two plays. C. Woolard ran the next three plays ganging a total of 17 yards. Young completed a pass to Dasher for a gain of 31 yards and a first down. G. Rogers put PCA on the 2 yard line after a 9 yard carry. Young ran for a PCA TD. The kick after by Conley was good, making the score 28-21.

Forrest Johns kicked the ball for the kick return to the 23 yard line. G. Rogers had a great tackle for PCA. A penalty for defensive offsides was called, resulting in a loss of 5 yards for Pinewood. Young tackled the runner for Brookwood. A 10 yard penalty against Brookwood was called for offensive holding. Young tackled the runner for a gain of 3 yards. Lewis had a strong tackle against the Warriors for a gain of no yards. S. Rogers tackled the runner with assistance from G. Rogers. Kennedy tackled the runner on the next play. Brookwood kicked for a field goal, but it was no good.

Young intended a pass to J. Rogers, but the Warriors intercepted the ball and ran all the way for a TD. The point after was good, and the score became 21-35.

The ball went out of bounds on the kick return, and PCA got the ball at the 35 yard line. Young completed a pass to Dasher for a gain got 27 yards. Young threw another incomplete pass, and the timer ran down. The final score was 21-35.

PCA will travel to Augusta to meet Augusta Prep Day School on the gridiron September 8.
