Lady Patriots Begin Quest for State Championship

The softball team at Pinewood Christian Academy has made winning the state championship a tradition over the past three years.  The quest for the fourth state title is underway as the Lady Patriots kicked off this season participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Softball Camp, Bulloch Academy’s Striking Out Alzheimer Tournament, and the Georgia Dugout Leadoff Classic adding 14 wins and 3 losses to their record.

The team is lead by six seniors who have been apart of all three state championship teams.  Each of the “Super Six” bring a special dynamic to the PCA team. Raegan Waters, three time all-region and all-state pitcher, along with catcher, Leanne Whiten, make up the dynamic duo that shuts down the other teams’ offense.  Macy Pirkle, short stop, is extremely aggressive and makes the hardest play with ease.  Shelton Rogers, three time all-region and all-state lead-off slap hitter and centerfielder, has exceptional speed.  All-region, Hanna Anderson, makes things happen in the outfield and at the plate, and last Carleigh Bell, all-region and all-state player, is the Patriot’s trifecta as the third baseman, power hitter, and back up pitcher.  All six of these girls have grown up playing the game they love together.  With an overall record of 115-15, they have made winning their legacy.  This makes the quest for the state championship even more special as this season will be the end of an era.

Also in the line up for the Lady Patriots is junior Jordan Jernigan, sophomores Ansley Howard, Clair Lewis, Taylor Hendrix, Anna Shuman, Presley Godbee, and freshmen Ella Anderson, Cierra Kenlaw, and Kadence Sowell.  The journey to the state championship is one that this team takes serious as they continue their winning tradition.  We wish them the best of luck.
