PCA Sixth Grade Creates Revolutionary War Dioramas

By: Abigail Tucker, PCA junior

The sixth graders at Pinewood Christian Academy brought the events of the Revolutionary War to life in Mrs. Lindsey Blocker’s social studies class. Students created dioramas that portrayed an important moment from the Revolutionary War. Each diorama was decorated with a background to show the setting and included figures to represent the people who were a part of the moment in history. Each student chose a specific event such as Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty, or give me death” speech, the shot heard round the world, George Washington and the Continental Army, Thomas Jefferson drafting the Declaration of Independence, The Boston Tea Party, the midnight ride of Paul Revere, Washington crossing the Delaware River, or the Victory at Yorktown. They presented their projects to the class along with a paragraph explaining their event and why it was significant in the Revolutionary War. “I am so proud of my 6th grade students for their hard work and the quality effort they put towards their American Revolution dioramas. This group of students always turns in exemplary work, but I was blown away by their recreations of battles and events of the Revolutionary War!” commented Mrs. Blocker on the students’ hard work. The sixth graders enjoyed seeing a scene in their history brought to life.
