Lady Patriots Compete in Thanksgiving Tip – Off Invitational

On November 21 and 22, PCA’s Lady Patriots traveled to Edmund Burke Academy (EBA) to participate in the Thanksgiving Tip-Off Invitational. The girls played two games over two days against Portal and Jenkins County.
PCA vs Portal
The Lady Patriots went into their game against the Portal Lady Panthers as a united front, establishing their lead within the 1st quarter. By the 2nd quarter, the girls pushed further ahead and came out on top for the first half of the game 25 – 17. Coming back for the second half, the Lady Patriots kept up their momentum scoring 13 to Portal’s 4. There was no redemption for the Lady Panthers in the 4th quarter even outscoring PCA 9 – 8. The final score of the game was 46 – 30.
Johnnie Nutting led her team in points scored with 19 followed by her teammates Payton Cowart with 8, Emily Moncrief and Libby Kate Blocker both with 6, Katelin Smith 3, and Aubree Danner and Ava Anderson both 2 points each.

PCA vs Jenkins County
The Lady Patriots went into their game against the Jenkins County Lady War Eagles ready to work. The 1st quarter was a back forth battle with the Lady War Eagles grasping a one point lead. In the 2nd quarter, the Lady Patriots held on by doubling their points and leaving the first half trailing 22 – 26. Returning for the second half, both teams turned up the heat. It was still the Lady War Eagles game in the 3rd quarter, but the Lady Patriots were catching up. Within the final, nail-biting, quarter the Lady Patriots’ defense was on fire only allowing three points to Jenkins County, and scoring seven for themselves. The Lady Patriots fell to Jenkins County within the final seconds of the game 37 – 39.
Cowart led her team with most points scored of 17 followed by Moncrief and Nutting 5, Blocker 4, and Griffin, Smith, and Anderson all with 2 points.
