All Select Chorus and Band

On January 21, students attended GISA High School All-Select Chorus and Band in Kennesaw, Georgia, at Mount Paran Christian School. All-Select is an intensive weekend where GISA students from around the state gather to learn and prepare a varied repertoire for a concert Saturday evening. Madolyn Hendrix, Elizabeth Porter, Kylie Brockman, Payton Haddon, Lauren Shiver, Haley Thompson, Milligan Williams, Elizabeth McCooey, and Joshua Murray were selected to sing in the All-Select Chorus, and Aaron Lyons selected to play the euphonium in the all-select band. The band and chorus practiced earnestly Friday night as well as Saturday morning before the final performance. The chorus was directed by Dr. Joy Meade, the assistant director of choirs at Georgia State University, and they performed a variety of pieces ranging from a renowned classical work to a rhythmic Brazilian folk song. All-Select band also performed five diverse pieces, and they were directed by Dr. Jeff Kluball, chair of fine arts and professor of music at Darton State College. The students were challenged, and their voices were exhausted. However, the lessons they learned and the memories they made are priceless!
