Walker Todd signs for GMC

Patrons gathered in Pinewood Christian Academy’s lecture hall on February 7th as Walker Todd, seated with his parents Matt and Angela Todd, officially committed to Georgia Military College to pursue his athletic career in football. The senior class along with family, coaches, and staff celebrated his signing. “We are so proud of Walker and can’t wait to see what God has planned for his future. His hard work, dedication, and teamwork has finally proven to produce the outcome he wanted – to play at the collegiate level. We are beyond grateful for the coaches, teammates, and mentors who have played a crucial role in shaping him into the exceptional athlete and young man he is today,” his parents said.
Todd’s football career began when he was in fourth grade with the Evans County Recreation Department (ECRD). Since then, he has played every year through middle school as well has all four years of high school. His high school career in football has been an impressive one as he received All–Region his sophomore, junior, and senior years in addition to All–State his junior and senior years. He was also a part of the 2021 State Runner-up team at PCA. Todd’s stats for the 2022 season landed him the school record with 1,127 yards and 9 touchdowns. During the 2023 season, he accumulated 55 receptions, 986 yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns earning him another school record for receiving touchdowns in a single season at PCA. His high school career stats equal to an impressive 143 receptions, 2,393 receiving yards, and 28 receiving touchdowns, another school record. “Walker has had a great career playing football at Pinewood. I am proud of him and his accomplishments and look forward to seeing what he can do at the next level,” said Coach Keith Wasson, PCA Head Football Coach.
Throughout high school, he has proven be a dynamic athlete with numerous accolades across multiple other sports including basketball, baseball, and track also. Todd has played basketball since the fourth grade where his team won the state championship with the ECRD. He joined PCA’s fifth grade basketball team and started on the varsity team as a freshman. He received the All-Region Basketball award his freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years as well as All-State his junior and senior years. This year Todd became a member of the 1000 point club after earning 1056 points during the course of his high school career. In baseball, Todd received the All-Region Baseball award his sophomore and junior years along with the All-State Baseball award his junior year with his senior baseball season just getting started. He joined the track team his junior year and placed 2nd in region and 3rd in the state for high jump. He also received 1st in region and 2nd in state for the 4×100 meter relay.
When asked about his opportunity to play at the college level, Todd showed great appreciation for those who have poured into him over the years as he said, “Thank you to all the coaches who have spent energy and valuable time throughout my years at Pinewood. The game of football, fellowship, and the life lessons has not always been an easy road but it has been special. I hope to continue to make my family, school, and community proud.”
