What Prayer Means to Me
Prayer is what God has been teaching me lately. Throughout the past weeks, God has shown me His power and glory through prayer. There have been several car accidents in the junior class, which has allowed God to work in my life. He has taught me that His power and purpose have no limits. I used to pray at the end of each day like a hail marry pass at the end of a football game. I am learning that praying throughout my day reminds me of His presence and peace and prepares me to share His love with others. Rather than praying only at night, I have learned to give my worries to God as they occur throughout my day. Most importantly, He has taught me that prayer changes me, not Him. C.S. Lewis says it best: “I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, walking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God; it changes me.” With prayer, God has taught me to be more dependent on His wisdom instead of my own. What has God been teaching you lately? How is he making His presence known in your life? What can you do to grow closer to Him?
