Pinewood seniors Garlon Rogers and Logan Lewis played their final high school football game in Americus, Georgia at Southland Academy in the GISA All-Star game. They were nominated by their head coach, Keith Wasson, and then selected by the coaches throughout the state to play with their once rivals in one final game. “Being chosen to play in the all-star game was a once in a lifetime experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I made friendships that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, I want to thank God for giving me the ability to play football. I would also like to thank Coach Wasson for everything he has done for me. He has truly been a blessing in my life,” shared Logan Lewis
The all-star game combines the best of the best from all over the state in order to make two teams who vie for the title of champions. The boys have an opportunity to make new friendships with people that they may once have considered opponents on the football field. Their newfound teamwork inspires excellence in these young men that they may carry throughout their lives. Garlon Rogers commented on his experience by saying, “being able to attend the all-star game was a true honor and privilege. It was special to call these former players teammates instead of opponents, and the amount of God given ability displayed by all of the players was truly a special thing to witness. I am sincerely thankful for this exceptional experience and for the blessings God has showered upon myself, my family, and my school.”
