Pinewood Lady Patriots Advance To The Final Four
The softball team at Pinewood Christian Academy finished round one of the 2015 GISA AAA state playoffs with two wins against Tift Area. Carleigh Bell was on the mound for PCA for the first win. The bats were hot early as Shelton Rogers bunted for a single followed by a hit to right field by Emily Shiver. A double by Maggie Greer would score Shelton Rogers, Abigail Bland brought Emily Shiver in and the Lady Patriots ends the first inning 2-0. The Lady Panthers of Tift Area would remain scoreless until the top of the third inning Missy McKay hit a double to right field and an out of the park home run by Macy Strenth made the score 4-2. PCA picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the second and then a hitting streak in the bottom of the third inning put PCA up 11-2. The fourth inning 3 more runs for the Lady Patriots would finish the game with the run rule in effect 14-2 final score.
The second game would be more of the same as Raegan Waters took the mound for PCA. Shelton Rogers bunted and was brought in by a hit to left field by Carleigh Bell I the first inning put PCA up 1-0. Tift Area scored 1 run in the bottom of the first inning. This would be the only run for the Lady Panthers in game 2. Delaney Pirkle and Shelton Rogers were brought in the second inning by Emily Shiver with shot to left field. An out of the park home run by Maggie Greer in the fourth inning scored Shelton Rogers. Lady Patriots up 5-1. Hanna Anderson hit a line shot to right field in the fifth and was brought in by Emily Shiver. Raegan Waters scored on another hit to left field by Hanna Anderson in the sixth and a hit by Macy Pirkle’s to left field scored Hanna Anderson. The seventh inning was hit after hit. Emily Shiver was brought in by a double to left field by Maggie Greer, Carleigh Bell scored Maggie Greer and another out of that park home run for the Lady Patriots by Raegan Waters brought the first round of state playoff to an end with a final score 12-1.
The Lady Patriots will play John Milledge in the final four. Congratulations to the Pinewood softball team and good luck!
