PCA Juniors Selected for Washington Youth Tour

America’s Electric Cooperative Youth Tour has taken students, all expenses paid, to Washington, D.C., for a week in June every year for almost 60 years. This tour of Washington and leadership experience includes meetings with state and national leaders, leadership training, and visits to all the major sights in the area. Students apply with and are selected by their local electric cooperative, Pinewood’s being Canoochee EMC.

Rising high school senior applicants in the region were required to submit an essay, and ten finalists were selected to progress to an interview. Four winners and two alternates were chosen to represent the Canoochee region in this summer’s youth tour. PCA juniors Carleigh Bell, Lilly Dasher, Marley Kennedy, Timothy Johnson, and Brantley Swindell advanced as finalists. Bell, Johnson, and Swindell were selected as winners, and Kennedy will be attending as an alternate.  Pinewood will be well represented at the Georgia Washington Youth Tour with all four Canoochee EMC-sponsored spots, and these students’ achievements are outstanding! Congratulations to our finalists!
