Pinewood Cheerleading competes in “Bring it to the Boro”
Alyssa Dollar, PCA Junior
On Tuesday, November 5, the Pinewood varsity and JV cheerleading squads attended their first competition at Bulloch Academy. In the JV division, Pinewood competed against 4 teams. These teams included Brentwood, Briarwood, Robert Toombs, and Gatewood. The JV team finished in 2nd place just behind Robert Toombs who claimed the win. In the varsity division, Pinewood competed against 5 teams where they took 4th place. The varsity girls competed against Brentwood, Briarwood, Robert Toombs, Gatewood, and St. Andrews. Coach Lindsey Blocker had this to say about the competition, “Though the start of the 2019 cheerleading season has brought forth its share of obstacles, both the JV and varsity PCA cheerleaders have risen to the challenge of overcoming each one thrown their way. The girls are choosing to look for God’s fingerprints of providence to see them through the end of competition season…believing that when it is difficult to see His hand, they can always trust His heart, and He will ultimately work everything out for their good and His glory! Satan has been working overtime these last few months to try and distract us from achieving God’s purposes for our squads this year. Whether it be through injuries, doubts, division, losses, etc. the attacks have been endless. We can spend our time focusing on all the ways we have struggled, or we can use the struggles as a catalyst for growth. The cheerleaders have chosen the latter, to be young ladies growing in strength, courage, faith, and love! I know we all will look back in hindsight and stand in awe at all the ways God worked for us and through us! Stay tuned…He is faithful!”
Pinewood cheerleading will attend their state competition on November 23rd at Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Georgia.
