Pinewood Cheerleaders Place First in Competition

On November 3, 2015, the Varsity and JV cheerleaders of Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) traveled to Bulloch Academy in Statesboro for the “Bring it to the Boro” Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Competition, and both teams brought back the first place trophy! Pinewood’s JV squad competed against three other teams with the winning score of 287. Second place was awarded to Brentwood, who had a score of 278. Briarwood placed third, having a score of 255. The Pinewood Varsity squad had the winning score of 314.5. Second place was Briarwood, who had a score of 313.5. Trinity had a score of 282, which put them in third place. Brentwood placed fifth, and Robert Tombs was sixth place.
On October 31, 2015, Pinewood’s Varsity competed in a Georgia High School Association (GHSA) cheerleading competition held in Toombs County. The Varsity cheerleaders placed seventh of nine teams with no deductions. Metter won first place; Bleckley placed second; Vidalia was named third; East Laurens placed fourth; Swainsboro was awarded fifth place; Bacon County was in sixth place; PCA earned seventh place with Jeff Davis in eighth place and ninth place was awarded to Washington-Wilkes.
On October 24, 2015, the PCA cheerleaders traveled to Statesboro High School for their second GHSA cheerleading competition of their season. The Varsity squad placed first with an score of 207. Pinewood’s JV squad placed third of nine teams.
On Saturday, September 26, 2015, the PCA cheerleaders had competed in their first GHSA cheerleading competition of the season at Effingham County High School. PCA’s JV competed against six other teams. Of the seven teams, JV placed third with a score of 200. South Effingham, the first place winner, had a score of 237. With a score of 208, Ebenezer achieved second place. PCA was third. Savannah Christian was fourth place, Richmond Hill was fifth place, Hancock Day was sixth, and Long County was seventh. The Pinewood Varsity cheerleading squad also placed third. Metter won first place with a score of 199. Screven won second place, and their score was 197. Pinewood had a score of 194 which put them in third place. Long County earned fourth place having a score of 116.
The PCA Cheerleading Squads have several more competitions in the next few weeks within the GISA competition circuit. Then next will be November 7 and14, 2015. The competition season will end with the State competition to be held November 21, 2015, at John Milledge Academy.
