PCA’s Football Season Comes to an End

The Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) football players went head-to-head against the Valwood Valiants on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Lowell Coley Field. Valwood had the winning score of 14-6 which gave the Pinewood Patriots an 11-1 region score. To start the game off, Pinewood kicked the ball to the Valwood Valiants. Kaleb Shuman regained the fumble. A flag was thrown on the play against Valwood for a personal foul. Both Parks Hagan and Cameron Dutton made excellent tackles against the Valiants. Will Sheffield intercepted the ball for the Pinewood Patriots. Noah Callaway had multiple tackles against the Valiants. Neither teams scored for the first or second quarter. Blake Shuman made a fabulous catch thrown by Jeffrey Young, but Valwood tackled Blake. The Valiants tackled quarterback Jeffrey Young, but a flag was thrown on the play against Valwood for a 15 yard penalty which gave PCA a first down. Preston Campbell had multiple runs for the Patriots, and he finally managed the ball to the one yard line. Pinewood scored the first touchdown (TD) of the game which was run by Preston Campbell. The kick was blocked, so the score became 6-0. Shortly after, Valwood scored a TD, and the kick was good putting the Valiants in the lead 7-6. Blake Shuman ran for the Patriots for several yards gained. Valwood intercepted a pass thrown by PCA. Another flag was thrown against the Valiants for holding. Cameron Dutton sacked Valwood’s quarterback. Turnover on downs, the Patriots got the ball. Cameron Dutton had a grand catch for the Patriots thrown by Jeffrey Young. Kaleb Shuman ran for Pinewood. Jeffrey Young threw the ball to John Michael Thompson for an amazing catch, but a flag called PCA back. Valwood intercepted the ball. With 2 minutes and 32 seconds on the clock Cameron Dutton intercepted the ball from the Valiants which gave PCA the ball back. Pinewood was called back a few yards for holding. Cameron Dutton caught another good pass from Jeffrey Young. Unfortunately, the Valwood Valiants intercepted the ball from the Patriots again, and Valwood scored their second TD. The score became 14-6 after the kick was successful. Time ran out, and Valwood won the football game. The PCA boys played a terrific game, but will not be advancing in the playoffs for State. Congratulations boys on a nearly perfect season.
