PCA Wraps Up Regular Season with a Big Pink Bow
The softball team at Pinewood Christian Academy brings the regular season to an end. The Lady Patriots have four seniors this year. The last game of the regular seasons was dedicated to them as PCA played host to Brentwood Sept. 30. The Lady Patriots put another win up to make their season record 26-3 defeating the Lady Eagles 5-2. Maggie Blocker, Jena Brown, Delaney Pirkle, and Emily Shiver were saluted for their years on the field at PCA. A shrimp and grit feast was held after the game in their honor.
The second annual Pink Out scrimmage game against Bulloch Academy was the next celebration. The teams came together to raise Breast cancer awareness with all the money made to be donated to local CARES groups. The festivities were held Oct. 5 in Bellville. PCA tipped off the festivities with K3-12 wearing “pink out” shirts to school. A pre-game carnation ceremony was held to pay tribute to the survivors and those who have lost lives due to cancer. The first pitch of the game was thrown by Janet Pirkle, a Patriot grandmother, who is currently battling cancer. The Lady Patriots and the Lady Gators feel this scrimmage is a great way to promote awareness and a lot of fun as well. The team raised around $200.00 through t-shirt sells, cake raffle, snow cones and game admission. The Lady Patriots will begin State playoff at home Saturday, October 10th.
