PCA Victory against Trinity 21-14

On Monday, October 10, 2016, Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) hosted their annual senior night for the senior students involved with athletics. The athletes were escorted by their parents unto the football field for recognition. The football players then battled against the Trinity Academy Crusaders with a win of 21-14.

First Quarter

Just under the 7 minute mark in the first quarter, K. Shuman ran for 3 yards and into the Patriot end zone for the first touchdown (TD) of the game. C. Woolard kicked the ball successfully for the points after, and the score became 7-0.

Second Quarter

Beginning second quarter, K. Shuman ran for 10 yards into the end zone for another Patriot TD. C. Woolard kicked the ball through the uprights for the extra points, so the score became 14-0. The Crusaders threw a 17 yard pass for a TD. The points after were good, and the score became 14-7.

Third Quarter

At the beginning of third quarter, Young ran the ball for the Pinewood Patriots but was tackled by the line of scrimmage. Young threw a complete pass to Thompson for a big yardage gain, but a flag on the play called PCA back. Turnover on downs.

C. Woolard, Purcell and Floyd led the Patriots by having several strong tackles against the Crusaders. K. Shuman intercepted the ball from a long pass to the Crusaders. G. Rogers carried the ball through the middle to gain a few yards for PCA. K. Shuman ran the ball for Pinewood, inching closer to the goal line. G. Rogers carried the ball for 24 yards and into the end zone for a Patriot TD. The kick by C. Woolard was successful, and the score became 21-7.

Purcell held his defensive ground and tackled against Trinity. Thompson tackled Trinity’s runner out of bounds. K. Shuman tackled the opposing player, but the Crusaders still gained a first down. Purcell had another strong tackle against Trinity.

Fourth Quarter

Fourth quarter started with a pass by Trinity that was intercepted by Thompson, who ran for over a 20 yard gain for Pinewood. Young completed a pass to Dutton which put the Patriots under the 30 yard line. On the next series, G. Rogers sacked the Trinity runner. Hagan held his ground and stopped the runner. Crusaders were called for holding. J. Woolard broke up the pass to the Crusaders. PCA had a 5 yard penalty for off sides. Turnover on downs.

PCA gained a first down. Hagan ran the ball for a gain of a few yards. On the next series, Hagan broke up the Crusader’s pass, but a flag was called on the play against PCA. The crusaders were backed up for a false start. Hagan tackled the Trinity runner for a second down, and he sacked the runner on the next play for a third down for Trinity. Dutton tackled the opposing player for Trinity’s fourth down. Personal foul against PCA for a helmet-to-helmet call. Pinewood was backed up for being unsportsmanlike. Turnover on downs.

Floyd made a hard tackle against Trinity. Quincy Tanner had a fierce tackle against the Crusaders. On the next series, PCA scored a first down. K. Shuman ran the ball for Pinewood gaining a few yards. G. Rogers carried the ball gaining some yards for the Patriots. Pinewood was forced to punt. The Crusaders had a 24 yard pass for a TD, and the point after was good which made the score 21-14.

The clock ran out for a Patriot win!

On Friday, October 21, Pinewood will go head-to-head with their rival Bulloch Academy. Show your Patriot Pride by joining the players as they travel to Statesboro.
