PCA Students Attend State Junior BETA Competition

November 28th through the 30th, Pinewood Christian Academy’s Junior BETA Club traveled to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center for the annual BETA Convention. The competition is held for students across the state to come together and compete in a variety of academic and creative categories. The students competed throughout the day on Thursday, and then celebrated the end of the day with a dance party.
On Friday morning, the winners were announced for each category. Brynnslet Bland, Jordan Bland, Riley Nevil, Ella Johns, Julia Hethcox, and Genevieve Bradley received 2nd place in 3D design. In the technology category, Cody Burke, Bryson Croft, Jordan Whitlow, and Luke DeLoach placed second. Tyson Swindell, Hunter Dixon, Diego Jansiski, Grayson Swindell, Avery Beasley, and Charles Burkhalter placed 3rd in the 2D design category. Laci Stone placed fifth in Solo Talent and received a Golden Ticket Award advancing her to nationals.
The Book Battle team, made up of Aiden Woolard, Brinson White, and Lindsey McLeod placed fourth. Several students received 4th place in the creative arts category including Julia Hethcox for painting, Mary Chandler Long for Mixed Media, Grace Rogers for jewelry, and Mia Hamner for Fiber Arts.
The club, as a whole, received the Gold Key Award for Convention Growth. In June, each student who received first through third place will have the opportunity to compete at national competition in Oklahoma.
