PCA Overpowers Edmund Burke 35 to 0 for Homecoming

On September 23, 2016, the Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Patriots went head-to-head with the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans, and PCA came out with the victory having a score of 35-0.

First Quarter

On the first drive of the game that took four minutes, Garlon Rogers scored a Patriot touchdown (TD). The point after was kicked through the uprights by Caleb Conley which put the score at 7-0.

G.Rogers had backfield sacks for Pinewood causing multiple fourth downs. Kaleb Shuman ran the ball for a touchdown and gained great yardage for PCA. Parks Hagan ran the ball into the end zone, and after the point after were scored by Conley, the score board read 14-0.

Sky Rogers made a strong tackle against the Spartans to force a punt. PCA next series started with a complete pass to Jacob Hendrix which gained PCA the first down.

Second Quarter

K.Shuman ran the ball thirty yards in the few seconds of the second quarter for another Patriot TD. The kick was good by Conley, and the score board read 21-0.

Grady Skeens, Jake Woolard, Kirt Kennedy, and Matthew Floyd had powerful defensive tackles against EBA.

Jeffrey Young completed a pass to Hagan. K.Shuman ran the ball for PCA and was knocked out of bounds inside the Patriot 10 yard line. Young ran the ball for the Patriot’s fourth TD. Conley, for the fourth time in a row, kicked the ball successfully putting the score at 28-0.

Quincy Tanner had a fierce tackle against the Spartans. Collin Woolard intercepted the ball from Edmund Burke.

Cameron Dutton ran the ball for PCA and inched close to the end zone. Dutton made his way through the defense and scored a Patriot TD. The kick by Conley was good, putting the Pinewood Patriots 35-0.

Pinewood kicked off and Chap Shuman made a forceful tackle against EBA.

Half Time

Aubrey Ray Sheffield was crowned Homecoming Queen, and Maggie Greer was crowned Princess.

Third Quarter

S.Rogers had another strong tackle against the Spartans. Todd Burkhalter led a host of Patriots in a tackle against EBA.

After the turnover, Lake Dasher ran the ball gaining a few yards for PCA. Young completed a pass to James Rogers, earning a first down for the boys in green and orange. G.Rogers ran the ball for Pinewood and gained a first down.

G.Rogers carried the ball again and gained another first down, which put PCA at the 40 yard line. Young completed a pass to C.Shuman but was called back because of a flag against the Patriots. In the next series, the Pinewood Patriots were called back 5 yards for a false start.

Fourth Quarter

Dasher carried the ball about 20 yards until he was pushed out of bounds.  The Patriots, however, were called back because of a penalty.

PCA fumbled the ball, and EBA recovered it. Teague Blake had a powerful tackle against the Spartans. Dasher and J.Rogers had intense defensive tackles against the Spartans. PCA recovered the fumble.

Dasher ran the ball on the next play for a gain of a few yards for PCA. Wade Durrence carried the ball earning a first down for the Patriots. Dasher ran the ball and obtained another first down for Pinewood. W.Durrence ran the ball for PCA, but was called back 5 yards because of a false start on Pinewood. Dasher gained several yards on the carry of the next series. Young completed a pass to John Marshall Headrick. Dasher ran the ball again but was tackled by the Spartans. The timer ran out and the Patriots victorious with a 35 to nothing score.

The Patriots will be traveling to St. Simons to take on Frederica Academy next Friday, September 30, 2016. Come show your support for the football players by cheering them on in the stands!
