PCA One Act Team Named Region Champions

By Sydney Strickland, PCA junior

On November 2nd, Pinewood Christian Academy’s (PCA) One Act team competed at the GISA 2AAA region competition at Southeastern Technical College (STC) in Vidalia. The students vied for the title along with Bulloch Academy, Trinity Christian School, and The Westfield School. PCA clenched the win for a second year in a row with their production of “The Music Man” by Meredith Willson and directed by Mrs. Brooke Smith and Mrs. Jenna Watkins.

Junior Hannah Rice was also awarded the Outstanding Performance award for her portrayal of her character, Amaryllis. In response to her winning this prestigious award, Rice states, “I was shocked and incredibly thankful! We have all worked so hard, and it was good seeing it pay off. I have really enjoyed my time with everyone who has been a part of One Act, and I can’t wait for State.”

Co-Director Mrs. Brooke Smith also states, “We are thrilled to bring the Region Championship trophy home to Pinewood. However, an even greater victory has taken precedence. God has been glorified and continues to work in our One Act team, and that is our greatest honor. These students and this experience have been a wonderful gift!”

PCA will return to STC on November 15th to compete for the GISA AAA state title. Congratulations to PCA’s One Act team for another region championship!
