PCA Literary Team Wins Region Competition

On March 9th, Pinewood Christian Academy’s literary team competed for the GISA 2AAA Region title at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia. The team, consisting of 23 high school students, had a very successful day, taking home the first overall win. The team also received many individual awards including seven first place, five second place, and two fourth place. The students who placed first and second will advance to the GISA State competition held on March 20th at Gordon State College.
Senior James Kicklighter received first place in Rhetorical Essay, and junior Anna Scott also received first in Impromptu Speaking. Senior Milligan Williams won first place in Girl’s Solo for the second year in a row and took home first in Girl’s Trio alongside senior Haley Thompson and junior Elizabeth McCooey. The Boy’s Quartet, seniors Connor Kennedy and Nicholas Strickland, junior Joshua Murray, and sophomore Aaron Lyons, placed first as well. Two members of the quartet also received first in their individual events, Murray in Boy’s Solo and Lyons in Humorous Oral Interpretation. The students who placed second were Connor Kennedy in Extemporaneous Speaking, Anna Scott in Argumentative Essay, Joshua Murray and Elizabeth McCooey in Duo Oral Interpretation, junior Irene Lee in Piano, and sophomore Logan Haddon in Personal Essay. Joshua Murray (Dramatic Oral Interpretation) and junior Britton Waters (Spelling) received fourth place. Congratulations to Pinewood’s literary team for another region win!
