PCA Juniors Present Imagery Projects
By Leah Deal, PCA Senior
As the 2018 school year went into effect, the 11th grade juniors read Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, written by Jonathan Edwards. It is a sermon that was preached on July 8, 1741, in Enfield, Connecticut, as an address to all ‘sinners’ so they would recognize the judgement God will bring down upon them and how dreadful and painful this judgement shall be. To assist in understanding the subject, students are given a creative project involving imagery to depict what is described in the sermon.
The students’ task was to read over the sermon and choose one line that they thought was best depicted by the imagery given. They were to use play-doh and any other materials they saw fit for their depiction. The students then proudly presented their creations and put them on display. Each student found this project as a fun and original way to learn more about the powerful uses of imagery as well as show off their creative skills.
