PCA Holds 10th Annual Spring Concert

By: Sydney Strickland, PCA sophomore

On March 16th, Pinewood Christian Academy’s FCA held its 10th annual spring concert. They hosted Christian artists Colton Dixon, Hawk Nelson, Sarah Reeves, and John Waller. Everyone was invited to the event for a fun-filled night of music, worship, and ministry, and all proceeds went to support the FCA Club.

First to perform was John Waller, who sang four of his hit songs including “While I’m Waiting” from the movie Fireproof and “Crazy Faith” from the movie War Letters. Jimmy Griffith, associate pastor at Rehoboth Missionary Baptist Church and longtime friend of Waller, later joined him onstage to sing “The Blessing”.

The second performer was Sarah Reeves, who also sang four of her hits including “Details” and “Feel The Waters”, a love song dedicated to her husband. Reeves shared a portion of her marriage testimony during her performance and why this song meant so much to her.

The third act on stage was the band Hawk Nelson, who had everyone in the audience dancing and singing along to their energetic and uplifting songs including hits “Live Like You’re Loved”, “Diamonds”, and “Words”.

After their performance, Pedro LaTorre, the emcee for the evening, came onstage and encouraged everyone in attendance to sponsor a child through Compassion International, an organization dedicated to helping children in poor countries. He shared his story about how he came to sponsor and personally invest in the life of a child and invited everyone to take part in this wonderful ministry. There was a fifteen-minute intermission where attendees could buy merchandise from tables in the back and fill out forms for child sponsorship. The audience got a special surprise when Sarah Reeves came out to talk to them during this time.

Then, Colton Dixon, performed many of his hits including “Through All of It”, “All That Matters”, and “The Other Side”, a song with a special meaning to Dixon which touched everyone in the audience. After the concert was over, Colton came out to meet the audience, signing autographs, taking pictures, and talking to the concertgoers.

This year’s spring concert was definitely a huge success and was one of the most exciting concerts to date. Pinewood would like to say thank you to all FCA members, staff, and others who helped plan this fun event.
