PCA Fourth Graders Present Landform Projects
Pinewood Christian Academy’s (PCA) fourth grade classes have been studying the various types of landforms. A landform is any natural feature on the Earth’s surface. For instance, they have studied mountains, valleys, deserts, peninsulas, volcanos, islands, deltas, oceans, plateaus, plains, and hills. Recently, the fourth grade students designed their own landform model using meat trays (provided by Food Fresh of Claxton) and modeling clay. Making these landforms allowed the children to show their creative side, and according to Mr. David Perkins, the fourth grade social studies teacher, the students always impress him with their creativity. To make double use of the instructional time, while students worked on the projects, Mr. Perkins discussed the history of music and played a number of selections for them such as works by the classical masters, spirituals, swing, jazz, rock and roll, blues, and barber shop. The students enjoyed the wide range of music through the ages as they created their landforms. These projects are being displayed in the PCA library.
