PCA 3rd Graders Grow Their Own Food
By: Brayden Gravley, PCA sophomore
Agriculture is an important part of life in the South, and Pinewood’s third grade teachers, Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. DeLoach, enjoy showing their students that anyone can have a green thumb. These students recently planted their own garden at school to watch over and care for. Starting from seeds, they were able to monitor the garden as their food grew. Among the crops they planted were onions, which they later picked themselves. Students then cooked onion rings for their class to enjoy in Mrs. Miriam Porter’s home economics classroom. “They were delicious!” shared third grader Hunter Sikes-Sutton. This annual garden is a great way of proving that hard work has a sweet payoff.
