Mrs. Barr’s students study scientific method at PCA
Mrs. Barr’s 7th and 8th grade classes took part in two experiments demonstrating the scientific method. The students were put in groups of two and three, and were tasked with seeing how many drops of water they could fit on the surface of a penny. Before the first experiment took place, the class theorized how many drops would fit. The class presented their data and observed who managed to fit the most drops on the penny. The second experiment had students quickly stab a pencil through a plastic bag filled with water. This experiment taught students about the properties of water including things such as surface tension and states of matter. They used the second experiment to learn about different types of solids.
