Middle School Basketball

On Monday, January 11, 2016, PCA Middle School’s basketball boys’ team played at St. Peter’s. The 5/6th grade team won with a score of 47-10. The top scorers were as follows: Grayson Duckworth with 12 points and Parker Claxton had 8 points. The 7/8th grade boys’ team also played but lost with a score of 34-13.

On Thursday, January 14, 2016, the PCA Middle school boys traveled to Savannah to play Hancock Day School. The 5/6th grade team won with a score of 32-7. The top scorers were Grayson Duckworth with 8 points, Mic Wasson had 6 points, Parker Claxton and Walt Durrence each had 4 points. The 7/8th graders won having a score of 41-31. John Marshall Headrick had the top score of 20 points, Lake Dasher had 9 points, Wade Durrence and Eli Collins each had 4 points.

On Saturday, January 16, 2016, Pinewood played Savannah Country Day School. The 5/6th grade team won with a score of 39-10. PCA’s top scorers were Mic Wasson with 11 points, Cade Beecher had 10 points, and Walt Durrence and Grayson Duckworth each had 6 points. The 7/8th grade team lost 40-12, and the top scorers were John Marshall Headrick and Jacob Sikes who each had 4 points. The Middle School boys will play at home on Thursday, January 28, 2016.
The Middle school girls’ basketball teams have also had their fair share of games this week. On January 16, all four middle school teams played against Savannah Country Day School (SCDS). The 7/8th grade girls lost with a score of 9-16. Scorers for that game were Alissa Smith with 2 points, Madi Shaffer with 3 points and Emi Oates with 4 points. The 5/6th grade girls beat SCDS with a score of 25-6. Scorers were Anna Kate Dutton with 12 points, Sydney Jernigan with 4 points, Faith Smith with 4 points, Marley Dekle with 3 points, and Peighton White with 2 points.

Varsity Basketball

Pinewood Christian Academy’s Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ basketball teams played their first region games against Frederica Academy on Tuesday, January 12. The girls’ team won with a score of 55-48. Frederica was two points ahead at the half with a score of 24-22. Scorers for this game were Macy Pirkle with 19 points, Carleigh Bell with 17 points, Emily Shiver with 16 points, and Shelton Rogers with 3 points.

The boys also won their game with a score of 64-55. Once again, Frederica was two points ahead at the half with a score of 24-22. Scorers were Ethan Duckworth with 28 points, Parks Hagan with 17 points, Jeffrey Young with 7 points, John Michael Thompson with 4 points, Cameron Dutton with 4 points, and Kort Kennedy with 2 points.

PCA played another region game on Friday, January 15th, against the Bulloch Academy Gators, the Patriots’ biggest rival. The girls’ team lost with a score of 51-63. Scorers were Macy Pirkle with 13 points, Shelton Rogers with 13 points, Abi Oates with 6 points, Emily Shiver with 5 points, Carleigh Bell with 5 points, Raegan Waters with 5 points, Jordan Jernigan with 2 points, and Tarah Thompson with 2 points.

The boys’ team also played Bulloch. It was a close game with Pinewood coming out with the 66-61 win with the winning five points being scored in the last minute. Scorers for this game were Parks Hagan with 20 points, Ethan Duckworth with 12 points, Cameron Dutton with 12 points, Jeffrey Young with 9 points, Kaleb Shuman with 8 points and John Michael Thompson with 5 points.

The teams played once again on Saturday, January 16 against Twiggs academy. The girls’ team won their game with a final score of 57-44. Scorers for this game were Macy Pirkle with 17 points, Carleigh Bell with 13 points, Jordan Jernigan with 8 points, Shelton Rogers with 7 points, Abi Oates with 4 points, Abigail Bland with 2, Haley Thompson with 2 points, Raegan Waters with 2 points, and Tarah Thompson with 2 points.

The boys also came out with a win, beating Twiggs Academy with a score of 66-37. Scorers for this game were Kaleb Shuman with 16 points, Cameron Dutton with 8 points, Parks Hagan with 8 points, Ethan Duckworth with 7 points, Jeffery Young with 6 points, Will Sheffield with 6 points, John Michael Thompson with 4 points, Kort Kennedy with 5 points, Coy Halter with 3 points, Blake Shuman with 2 points, and Maylon Stanfield with 1 point.
