On Tuesday, October 27th, Pinewood Christian Academy’s Drama team performed a one-act version of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women at the new Jack & Muriel Strickland Arts & Cultural Center. The four March sisters experience boredom, excitement, hardship, and growth in this World War II rendition of the classic novel. Jo, the outspoken writer; Meg, the responsible eldest; Beth, the caring musician; and Amy, the snarky artist, bring a touching story of sisterhood and family to life.

Selling over two hundred tickets, Little Women was a great success and enjoyed by many! This production was the first play ever performed at the Arts & Cultural Center’s new and improved historic auditorium, making history for both Pinewood and the community of Evans County. The facility was originally home to Claxton Elementary School, which made it especially meaningful that its first theatrical production featured students. Audience members have praised the performance and expressed hope that Pinewood cast members will take the stage again next year.

On Wednesday, October 28, Pinewood’s drama team competed at the Region One Act Play competition. The cast did a wonderful job and left a lasting impression on their audience members. A few cast members received special recognition at regional competition. All-Star Cast honors were awarded to Shelby Croft, a 12th grader who portrayed Jo, and Taylor Brown, a 10th grader who portrayed Meg. Bailey Bolton, an 11th grader who portrayed Beth, was recognized with an Outstanding Performance award.
