Loss for PCA 17-30 against Frederica

On September 30, 2016, PCA went head-to-head against the Frederica Knights and lost with a score of 17-30.

First Quarter

From the kickoff, Kaleb Shuman tackled Frederica’s runner. Jeffrey Young intercepted the ball from the Knights. Young scored the first down for PCA. With a turnover on downs, Frederica got the ball.

PCA’s linemen held their ground and made several strong tackles. Frederica was forced to punt.

Young gained several yards for PCA carrying the ball. Young threw an incomplete pass to Cameron Dutton. On the run again, Young gained more yards for Pinewood.

Garlon Rogers ran the ball for Pinewood, gaining some yards. Pinewood was backed up for holding 5 yards, and for an illegal procedure which backed them up 5 more yards.

Jake Woolard caught the ball and earned a Patriot first down, putting PCA close to the end zone. A flag was thrown against Frederica for face masking, and Pinewood moved forward 5 yards.

Shuman ran the ball which put PCA under the 5-yard line. G. Rogers scored the first touchdown (TD) of the game for the Patriots. Caleb Conley kicked the ball through the uprights putting the score 7-0.

Shuman tackled the receiver from Frederica after returning the kickoff. Sky Rogers and Wes Purcell had powerful defensive tackles. Parks Hagan stopped the Knight’s from gaining yards with a hard tackle. Ford Thompson also tackled Frederica’s runner.

Frederica scored their first down and were inching close to the end zone. Frederica threw the pass successfully into the end zone for a TD. The point after was good, making the score 7-7.

Shuman received the ball from the kickoff and made a great run for PCA.

Young ran the ball and gained the first down for Pinewood. A successful pass to Dutton gained another first down for Pinewood.

2nd Quarter

Hagan caught the pass, but was tackled before he could gain more yards. K. Shuman ran the ball, earning a Patriot first down.

Rogers crossed the end zone on the carry for a Patriot TD. Conley kicked the ball successfully, and the score board read 14-7.

Frederica carried the ball for 40 yards before Young tackled him. The Knights continued to inch closer to the end zone by running the ball.

Matthew Floyd and Purcell held their defensive grounds and made strong tackles against the Knights.  Frederica kicked a field goal, and the score became 14-10.

Frederica recovered the ball from their own kickoff.

On the next series, the Knights ran the ball into the end zone for a TD. The kick was good, and the score became 14-17.

Collin Woolard recovered the ball from the kickoff. Young threw an incomplete pass. G. Rogers ran the ball and earned a Patriot first down.

Young fumbled the ball, but recovered it himself and ran for a gain of a few yards. Hagan was thrown a complete pass and made a first down for PCA.

Shuman ran the ball for another Patriot first down. G. Rogers ran the ball resulting in a second down for Pinewood.

Young carried the ball for 2 yards and made a first down for PCA.

A flag called the Patriots back 15 yards for a personal foul. Conley kicked a field goal, tying the score at 17-17.

Floyd and Purcell had more powerful tackles for Pinewood. G. Rogers held his guard and tackled Frederica.

An incomplete pass on the Knights caused a fourth down, and PCA got the ball.

Young threw a complete pass to Dutton. G. Rogers carried the ball for a PCA first down.

On the next play, the pass was intercepted by Frederica, and they ran the ball with only 14 seconds left on the clock.

PCA held the Knights until the timer ran out.

3rd Quarter

Shuman started off with a great run earning a first down for Pinewood.

Woolard went to punt and fumbled the ball, but he recovered it and kicked the ball into Frederica’s side of the field.

Purcell, Rogers and Joseph MacGregor led a host of Patriots for a strong defensive dog-pile against Frederica.

Shuman intercepted the ball from the Knights. Young threw a complete pass to K. Shuman. G. Rogers ran up the middle gaining a few yards for PCA.

Running through the middle again, G. Rogers gained more yards for Pinewood. K. Shuman ran the ball for a steady gain of yards.

The Patriots were backed up for an illegal procedure and were forced to kick a field goal. The kick was not good.

Turnover on downs gave Frederica the ball.

Shuman made a strong tackle against the Knights. TD for Frederica, and the score became 17-23.

PCA blocked the kick for the points after. Pinewood was backed up 15 yards for an illegal procedure.

4th Quarter

Young threw an incomplete pass to Dutton. Turnover on downs, and Frederica had the ball.

Dutton made a powerful tackle against Frederica. Hagan socked it to the Knights with a strong tackle. K. Shuman also tackled the Frederica runner, preventing a gain of any more yards for the Knights; however, Frederica gained the first down.

Woolard intercepted the ball from the Knights. Young threw a complete pass to F. Thompson.

Shuman ran the ball for a gain of a few yards for PCA. Young threw a complete pass to Dutton. A completed pass from Young was thrown to Hagan, but he was tackled immediately before gaining any more yards.

Another complete pass was thrown to Hagan by Young. G. Rogers ran up the middle for a Patriot first down.

A flag on PCA called the boys in orange and green back 15 yards. After a turnover on downs, G. Rogers tackled the Frederica runner, but the Knights still had earned a first down.

Frederica ran the ball inching closer to the goal line. TD for Frederica, and the kick was good which made the score 17-23. Lake Dasher received the onside kick and took knee.

Young completed a pass to F. Thompson for a gain of a few yards. A complete pass to J. Woolard gained a few yards for Pinewood.

The clock ran out, Frederica had the win.
