Junior/Senior DPA
From January 29 to January 31, six Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Junior and Senior 4-H members participated in the 2016 Junior/Senior District Project Achievement (DPA), held at the Rock Eagle campus. All of Southeast District, a total of 39 counties, were in attendance during the weekend. The Senior 4-H students (ninth through twelfth grade) gave a seven to ten minute long presentation that included visual aids, while the Junior 4-H participants (seventh and eighth grade) gave a five to seven minute long presentation with visual aids.
Junior participant Logan Haddon placed first in the arts program. The Senior winners included Jacob Myers, with first in the computers and information technology project, and will progress to state competition in Atlanta with Miranda DeLoach, who placed second in the public speaking project and won a sweepstakes to state competition. Sweepstakes are given to second place winners in categories with more than eleven competitors. Honorable mentions include: Nola Rushing, Landon Walker, and Payton Haddon.
The weekend included several public service projects, sports and recreation, a midnight dance, and dance classes. Participants showed their courage in facing public speaking, opened their hearts to those in need, and celebrated their success among other students from all across the Southeast District.
