PCA Basketball Update

Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) held several basketball games at home last week. On January 22, 2016, the JV girls won against the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans with a score of 27-9. The top scorers were as follows: Meghan Boatright 7 points, Aubrey Ray Sheffield 4, Lauren Shiver 4, Jordan Jernigan 3, Haley Thompson 3, Hanna Anderson 2, Emily Griffin 2, and Morgan Todd 2. The JV boys also played the Spartans, but lost by one point. The final score was 20-21. Coy Halter had the most points of 6, Logan Lewis had 4 points, Trey Kennedy 4, Wes Purcell 4, and Maylon Stanfield 2.

On January 26, 2016, Pinewood competed against the Trinity Christian Academy Crusaders. The JV girls won with a score of 39-13. Jordan Jernigan had the top points of 11, Haley Thompson had 10, Morgan Todd had 9, Lauren Shiver 4, Meghan Boatright 3, and Tori Blocker 2. The JV boys lost to the Crusaders with a score of 24-38. Logan Lewis had a total of 6 points, Maylon Stanfield 5, Coy Halter 4, Trey Kennedy 4, Jacob Meyers 3, and Wes Purcell 2.

VARSITY
On January 18, 2016, Pinewood Christian Academy’s (PCA) varsity boys’ and girls’ teams both won against the Edmund Burke Academy (EBA) Spartans. The Lady Patriots won with a score of 49-35. The top scorers were Carleigh Bell having 18 points, Shelton Rogers with 12 points, Macy Pirkle 7, Abi Oates 6, Jordan Jernigan 2, Haley Thompson 2, and Raegan Waters 2. The Patriots won having a score of 68-45. Cameron Dutton, who had 14 points, had the most points. Ethan Duckworth had 11 points, Kaleb Shuman and Will Sheffield both had 10, Jeffrey Young and Kort Kennedy both 8, Maylon Stanfield 3, Wes Purcell 2, Blake Shuman 2. Big shout out to Maylon Stanfield for making a half-court three-pointer in the last seconds of the third quarter.

On January 25, 2016, PCA’s varsity teams played against the Trinity Christian Academy Crusaders. The Lady Patriots lost with a score of 45-58, and the top scorer was as follows: Macy Pirkle 15 points, Carleigh Bell 7, Abigail Bland 7, Shelton Rogers 7, Jordan Jernigan 5, and Abi Oates 4. The Patriots won with a score of 60-45, and Jeffrey Young had the most points of 15. John Michael Thompson had 10 points, Ethan Duckworth had 10, Cameron Dutton 9, Kaleb Shuman 6, Will Sheffield 5, Blake Shuman 2, Kort Kennedy 2, and Maylon Stanfield 1.
