Home Ec Sews Pillows

Audrey Skinner, PCA Junior

Mrs. Porter’s Home Economics classes were assigned a pillow making project at the beginning of the school year. Each student was designated to buy a pillow form, three fat quarters, and a spool of thread to match. Over the past few weeks, students have watched a tutorial of what was involved in making the pillow, taught how to properly work a sewing machine, and finalized their fabric for their pillow. Each individual cut two right triangles and two rectangles out of their fat quarters to sew together to make their pillow case.  Once each student sewed each piece of fabric together to make the pillow case, they inserted their pillow form to see what they had created. Everyone was proud of what they had accomplished and eager to take their pillows home to their parents.
