First day of school at Pinewood

By:  PCA Journalism

Pinewood Christian Academy opened its doors Friday for the first day of school to begin PCA’s 54th year.  Sixty-four new students and forty-four families from fifteen different communities joined the Pinewood family this year where they were hosted for welcome reception after open house.

Friday morning, campus was all a buzz early as students and faculty alike gathered together for pictures outside each of the buildings decorated with welcome back to school lawn signs as the backdrop of their first day of school pictures with family and friends.  The upper school front lawn also included senior signs for the Class of 2024 and the highly anticipated senior walk commenced with the new senior class locked arm in arm and sporting their childlike character backpacks to enter the building for their very last first day of school. Once inside, the senior parents headed to the parking lot for the decorating of the seniors’ cars and what fun they had doing so.  The cars were decked out in all things PCA Patriot green, orange, and white from balloons, window paint, fringe, and several other creative ideas for decorating.  Walking out to the parking lot after school always brings much excitement as students get to see what their families have done to their cars for the first time.

Each building at the school has its own unique décor filling its halls and classrooms that the teachers work hard on to create an inviting and loving learning environment for its students.  The upper school building greeted the students with a little bit of a facelift to brighten the halls of the school with green and orange stripes lining the walls of the classroom halls, new lockers that had been installed, as well as new flooring in both the halls and classrooms.  These updates, along with new banners along Buck Cravey Drive are just a few of the improvements added to the school over summer break.

As the new school year begins, the faculty and staff at PCA are looking forward to another great year!
