On Thursday, April 18th, Pinewood Christian Academy’s Ethan Duckworth, son of Derrick and Angie Duckworth of Collins, Georgia, signed to Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia. Duckworth was presented an athletic scholarship to BPC where he will play basketball and attend in the fall as a business major. His parents shared, “We knew Ethan was a gifted athlete from a very young age. We are so excited to watch him continue his dream by playing at the college level.”

Duckworth has played basketball for 10 years, including his time with his recreational league and in travel ball as well as playing for PCA beginning his 5th grade year. During his varsity career at PCA, coaches Ridge Ferrell, Brett Lewis, and Matt Todd have helped Duckworth evolve into the talented player he is today. “I would first like to congratulate Ethan on being able to continue playing a sport he loves. He has put a lot of hard work in to get to this point. Brewton Parker will give him a great opportunity to grow as a player as well as a person. Everyone in our program at Pinewood is excited to watch him grow and mature,” said Coach Ferrell.

Duckworth has earned several awards as a Pinewood Patriot, including: All-Select Region and Best Offensive Player his freshman year through senior year, All-State as a sophomore and a senior, an All-State Honorable Mention as a junior, and he was selected to play on the GISA All-Star Team as a senior.

When asked about how he feels about the opportunity Brewton Parker has given him, Ethan remarked, “I would like to thank my parents and grandparents along with my coaches for motivating me to be my best. I am truly blessed to play at the college level.”
