On November 2, Cierra Kinlaw of Claxton, Georgia signed to play softball with East Georgia State College in Swainsboro. Cierra has played softball since she was seven years old, and knew early on that she wanted to pitch. She has been playing under Coaches Brett Lewis and Tracy Lynn on Pinewood’s softball team for four years. At the signing, Coach Lewis said that he was extremely proud to have had the opportunity to coach Cierra for the last four years and that she has the opportunity to play at the next level with all of the hard work that she has put in. As a Lady Patriot, Cierra has earned the Defense Award as well as the MVP Award.

EGC softball coach, Charles Wimberly, represented the Bobcats and confirmed Cierra’s softball scholarship for the pitching position. Cierra’s future plans include obtaining her bachelor’s degree in psychology from East Georgia in order to pursue a career as a child life specialist. When asked how she felt about playing softball at the college level, Cierra said, “I am very blessed to be given this opportunity. I would like to thank my family and coaches for helping me get this far.”

Cierra is the daughter of Heather and Steven Kinlaw and sister to Ava, Jordan, and Hailey Kinlaw. Her parents stated, “We are so proud of our daughter. Her hard work and dedication has paid off, and we cannot wait to see what the next chapter in her life brings.”

Pinewood would like to congratulate Cierra for this achievement and look forward to seeing her do great things as a Bobcat!
