Abi Oates named Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship Recipient

PCA Senior Abi Oates, daughter of Jamie and Lena Oates, of Register GA, was selected for the Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship Award. The Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship is presented to outstanding senior scholar-athletes. To qualify for this award, an athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 or higher, they must take part in at least one of the 48 sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee or the National Federation of State High School Association, and they must be a leader within their school and community. Oates has played for the Lady Patriots team all four years of high school in the position of shooting guard. Oates plays an integral part in her team claiming a state championship title in 2018, 3 region titles in 2017-2019, as well as the title of state runner-up in 2019. When asked about her accomplishments, Oates shared, “I would first like to thank the Lord for giving me my talents and abilities. I am truly honored to receive the Wendy Heisman Scholarship. I could not be where I am today without hard work and effort.”  Pinewood congratulates Oates and wishes her an amazing rest of the season.
