Fan into Flame the Gift of God

On September 7, Ryan Willis, youth pastor at Eastside Baptist Church, led out weekly chapel service.  He spoke us about looking the part of a Christian but living a life that does not reflect a life of Christ. 2 Timothy 1-6 says “for this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” To be able to keep a fire burning within us we have to fuel and fan the fire. Meaning we have to take action and we have to do something to keep the flame for Jesus going. Ryan went on to tell the story of Paul the apostle. While Paul was facing death in prison he wrote this verse from James. “Faith without works is dead” that verse means that we are going to be compelled to Jesus Christ just like Paul had been. Christ has saved us and called us with a holy calling before time began. God knew who we were going to be and what we were going to do, He created us anyway, and He died for us because of it.
