5th Grade Candy Cell Project

Mrs. Tatum’s 5th grade science classes took advantage of the Home Ec room to create their own science cells. They have been studying plant and animal cells and their composition. The goal of this project was to create a visual representation to the students in a way they could relate the organelles to something they could understand: candy.  She explained the role each piece of candy would play in the cell and allowed the students to create the cells. They used Hot Tamales, Fruit Roll-Ups, sprinkles, Jell-O, and several other candies.
